María Ximena Pineda

I am a Colombian writer with a major in Literature and a minor in Arts specialized in journalism. I am a fan of linguistics and language in general; for this reason I´ve been researching how people—especially adults—learn a second language. As a result of this effort I created TutorA, a project addressed for those who need guidance and motivation while joining the Spanish Speaking Club.

My Skills

Passionate about the language: As a writer I feel that discovering words and their role within a context is an intriguing journey, and I love to guide people through it.

Creative: I am always thinking about new methods or strategies that I can use with my students in each lesson. Always trying to get them motivated and involved with the language.

Personable: My students know they can share with me their issues or concerns. I consider myself a mindful listener who gives 100% attention to my students. My main goal is finding the best way to connect with each one of them.

Patient: Learning a language is gradual and requires time. I am a patient person and I am convinced that transmitting patience when teaching inspires courage in students.

My tutoring style

With my tutoring style you will learn a solid structure of the language plus you will get confident enough to start a basic conversation with a total stranger in Spanish.

Also, I will guide you through all the nuances Latin American Spanish has in comparison to Castilian Spanish. You will discover a whole culture rather than simply learning grammar rules.
